returning to the earth
The root of our business is sustainability in every sense of the word. From the ink + paper used for our stationary items, to exclusively working with NFTP’s (non-timber forest products), to using upcycled wood, cork + glass to vessel our sacred oils, using wild (not mono-crop farmed) and locally grown herbs… this business truly cultivates a respectful relationship with Mother Earth. We have an extremely low carbon footprint and partner with our friends at the Eden Reforestation Project to plant mangrove trees that offset carbon emissions, work with Indigenous communities, fight against deforestation and enhance biodiversity. Their mission is generating long term socioeconomic benefits to strengthen the resiliency of people + planet and it is an honor to have planted over 445 trees through them, fully funded by online orders here at Of Forest & Human (every product plants two trees).
Our shipping + packaging is made with 100% compostable or recyclable items and we heavily focus on eliminating single use plastics. We are always looking for ways to deepen our commitment to being very low or completely zero waste and are excited to see what the future holds.
We choose to work with a small conscious business for all of our printing needs. Our labels are printed on 100% hemp paper with waterproof coating and our stationary products are printed with plant dye (which uses minimal water and no acid or chemicals) on handmade cotton rag paper. And, of course, our glass is triple walled, hand frosted and designed to be washed + reused over and over when you are finished with the product inside.
We take our business partnerships very seriously, building personal relationships with the women we source ingredients from. We are ingredient obsessed- only using the highest quality possible, meaning we must create them in small batches to ensure exclusivity, potency and freshness. Our prices are set in relation to the small, woman-owned businesses we buy from, ensuring fair pay by the prices in which they set themselves.
We envision you using these products in ritual and as a daily reminder to slow down, breathe, walk softly and live with intention. May every drop reflect the ethos + standards we hold so highly here at Of Forest & Human, and may you feel encouraged to make sustainable changes in your own life. May you see the big steps we take in running a low waste business in order to care for our beautiful earth. To care for the earth is to care for ourselves- we are one body.
Connecting to the Source.
This is where it all begins: right here, in the forest.
Sitting, grounding into spirit, consciously breathing, dreaming and finding space to move energy + stillness simultaneously in the forest is my core work.
It is in this same energy that I create your products. So much of what I do is based off observing, reading and slowing down, which for an empathetic and sensitive person, is absolutely life giving.
My work is lifegiving. It is art. It is an extension of my spiritual be-ing. It is an extension of self.
The products I offer are so much more than products, they are based in presence and remembering, always crafted cyclically and slowly using age old techniques.
Women are wild and sensitive to all the energies of the world- a true reflection of earth’s inherent beauty, and it’s a gift for me to offer these nervous system soothing and wild made products to you.
“The magic cannot leave you, when it is you.”
